Creek Week Clean-up on Saturday, September 25, 9-Noon

Join us once again in cleaning up trash around the Shooks Run creek and trail as part of the larger, region-wide Creek Week organized by the Fountain Creek Watershed District on Saturday, September 25 from 9:00am to noon.

Did you know Shooks Run starts near the Patty Jewett Golf Course but it used to start in the Austin Bluffs area, now Palmer Park? The creek runs through three historic neighborhoods (Patty Jewett, Middle Shooks Run, and Hillside) before it empties into Fountain Creek that runs through El Paso and Pueblo Counties before it empties into the Arkansas River.

Middle Shooks Run neighbors will be cleaning the area between Boulder Street and Uintah Street. The neighborhood association will supply trash bags and other needs, including water for washing up. Registration for the event and supplies will be on Franklin Street, north of Willamette near the concrete couch circle.

We surveyed the creek recently and found it to be free of active camp sites and not all that much trash. But please wear sturdy shoes and gloves. A sun hat and personal drinking water are nice to have. Families are welcome! Questions? contact us at info@msrna.org.
