Bur Oak Trees Available from MSRNA

Each year, MSRNA offers trees to residents of our neighborhood for planting in their yards or next to the street. This year, we have native bur oaks at very reasonable cost for these trees that will come 6 to 8 feet tall, one inch to one and half inch-caliper, in pots.

  • Deciduous (drops leaves in the fall) with fringed acorns
  • Quercus macrocarpa, native to North America
  • 40 feet tall, 35 feet spread at maturity
  • Slow growing; drought tolerant once it’s established
  • On the City’s approved street tree list

Trees will be coming to our neighborhood on April 13. We will sell them at cost (no profit) at $80 each. Your purchase will include delivery and planting by MSRNA board members (if you need help) plus one year MSRNA membership (new or renewing). Because of the limited number available, buy your tree now!

To buy a tree, send your contact information (including street address and phone) to info@msrna.org. Payment can be made via PayPal, Venmo, personal check (send to our mailing address PO Box 204, Colorado Springs, CO 80901) or with cash.

As with all new trees, you will need to water for at least the first two years.

This tree is on the City’s approved street tree list. To plant a tree between the sidewalk and the street, you need to obtain a free permit from City Forestry. Request a permit online here or call the Forestry office at 719-385-5942.
